What we collect
Almost nothing. ⏻ffline has no advertising SDKs and no account system. You don't sign up. You don't log in.
The app uses Mixpanel for anonymous, aggregated analytics - session counts, feature usage, and app performance. We do not collect your name, email, or account, and events are not linked to your identity. Mixpanel's SDK may include coarse, IP-derived location (city or region) with standard device-level fields - see Anonymous analytics below. Mixpanel's privacy policy is at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
The current App Store release does not send anything to our own servers. Mixpanel receives anonymous, event-level analytics only.
What stays on your device
Everything the app knows about you lives on your iPhone and nowhere else:
- Your focus session history
- Your theme preferences and configurations
- Your daily targets
- Adaptive suggestions the app learns from your usage patterns
- Morning Ritual settings and completion history
- Resistance mode preferences
- Which apps you've chosen to block
None of this data is uploaded, synced, or backed up to our servers. It exists only on your device.
Anonymous analytics
We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used - which features are used most, when sessions start and end and how long they last, whether a session began at a partner venue, and how the app performs. This is used in aggregate. All events are anonymous. We do not collect your name, email, or any device identifier linked to your identity, and we do not use Mixpanel to identify or profile individual users.
Mixpanel's iOS SDK sends anonymous device-level properties with events by default - for example OS version, device model designation, screen size, app version, and coarse, IP-derived location such as city or region (these may appear prefixed with “$” in Mixpanel dashboards). Automatic event capture (“track automatic events”) is disabled in our integration: only analytics we deliberately record are sent, alongside these standard device-level fields.
This coarse location data is used only in aggregate, to understand broad usage patterns - it is never linked to your name, account, or any other identifying information, because ⏻ffline has no accounts. Refer to Mixpanel's own privacy policy at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy for full detail on how they process this data.
Venues: the interest form
If you run a venue or an event and register interest at offlinehq.io/venues, we collect what you type into the form:
- Your name and email address
- Your venue name and venue type
- Your town or area, if you choose to give it
- How you heard about us, and anything you add in the free text box
Why we collect it. To reply to you, to set your venue up if you go ahead, and to keep in touch about your founding partner place. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or add you to a marketing list.
Where it goes. Form submissions are stored by our website hosting provider, which processes them on our behalf, and are read only by the ⏻ffline team.
How long we keep it. If you become a partner venue, we keep your details for as long as you remain one. If you do not go ahead, we delete your submission within 12 months of your last contact with us.
How to have it deleted. Email offlineapphq@gmail.com from the address you registered with, or tell us the venue name, and we will delete your details within 30 days.
Venues: anonymous reports
Partner venues receive a simple summary of how their venue is doing: the number of phone-free sessions started there and the total phone-free minutes.
Venue reports contain no personal data and no guest identities. They do not include names, contact details, device identifiers, which apps a guest chose to pause, or anything about an individual visit. They are totals only, built from the same anonymous analytics described above.
If a guest chooses to share a card after a session, that is their own choice, made on their own phone. The card carries the venue's name, not the guest's details, and we do not see who shared it.
Your rights (GDPR)
Who is responsible. Stew Studios Ltd is the data controller for the information described in this policy.
Lawful basis.
- Venue interest form: taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement with you, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries from venues.
- Anonymous analytics and venue reports: our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is used and showing venues the value of taking part, using data that does not identify you.
Retention. Venue form details are kept as set out above. Anonymous analytics are kept in aggregate and are not linked to you.
Your rights. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to erase it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. Because the app has no accounts and its analytics are anonymous, in practice these rights apply to details you sent us through the venue form or by email.
How to make a request. Email offlineapphq@gmail.com. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your request, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Our servers
The current App Store release does not send anything to our infrastructure. Mixpanel is the only third-party receiver - anonymous, event-level analytics only.
Accountability Buddy is Coming Soon - it is not in this release. A later update may add a relay (offline-accountablity-buddy.fly.dev) so a contact you nominate can approve an early session end. That would be the only request to our servers. The relay would not store your name, focus history, habits, or a personal profile. Requests would expire after one hour.
Subscriptions and payments
⏻ffline offers a 7-day free trial, followed by a monthly or yearly subscription. All payments are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit.
We never see, handle, or store your payment information. Billing, receipts, refunds, and cancellations are managed through your Apple ID. We receive only a confirmation that your subscription is active - nothing else.
Your data, your control
There's no account to delete because there's no account to create. If you sent us details through the venue interest form, see Venues: the interest form for how to have them deleted.
Delete the app and everything goes with it. All session history, preferences, adaptive data, and local settings are removed from your device. We have nothing to erase on our end because we never had it.
